Pancakes are a favouritre breakfast item. But most often people think pancakes are sweet but they can be savoury too. Like this one made with a twist with jowar flour. Unlike the usual sweet ones, these savoury jowar pancakes are a healthy and tasty option to start your day with.

Ingredients
1½ cups sorghum (jawar) flour
¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
½ teaspoon red chilli powder
2 green chillies, chopped
Salt to taste
1½ teaspoons sugar
1 teaspoon white sesame seeds
A pinch of asafoetida (hing)
1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
Oil for cooking
Chopped onions as required
Chopped tomatoes as required
Chopped fresh coriander leaves as required
Coconut chutney for serving
Method
Take jawar flour in a bowl, add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, green chillies, salt, sugar, white sesame seeds, asafoetida and ginger-garlic paste and mix well. Add 1¼ cups water and whisk well to form smooth batter.
Heat a shallow non-stick pan and grease it with oil. For each pancake, pour a ladleful of batter and spread slightly. Sprinkle onions, tomatoes, salt and coriander leaves on top.
Drizzle some more oil all around, cover and cook on medium heat for 3-4 minutes.
Flip and cook on other side for 2-3 minutes more.
Remove the pancake and place on serving plate and serve hot with coconut chutney.
